Melvin Consulting Hosts New Hopi Health Care Center Staff Quarters Dedication

KEAMS CANYON, ARIZONA — On Tuesday, July 16, 2019, The Hopi Tribe formally dedicated the new 19-unit apartment complex being built in the existing Indian Health Service (IHS) housing compound in Keams Canyon, Arizona. The apartment dedication ceremony featured remarks from First Mesa Kikmongwi James M. Tewayguna, Chairman of the Hopi Tribe Timothy L. Nuvangyaoma, and Vice Chairman of the Hopi Tribe Clark W. Tenakhongva. Light refreshments, facility tours, and a public viewing of the apartment project storyboard followed the ceremony. Attendees viewed the art murals by Hopi artist Michael Adams and additional design features by the Hopi Tribe.
Melvin Consulting PLLC worked as part of the Hopi Tribe team which enabled the construction project to be built through a Public Law 93-638 contract between Hopi Tribe and Hopi Health Care Center (HHCC) - IHS. The apartment units primarily consist of studio and one bedroom apartments. The units will function as staff quarters to provide additional housing for the HHCC staff who do not stay for extended periods while providing services. The design-build team is Greenberg Construction as the general contractor and Johnson, Smitthipong, and Rosamond Associates, Inc. (JSRa) as the architectural subcontractor.
